Hi all,
Was at an antiques market a few week ago and saw a table lamp with a fairly wide brass column reminiscent of a shell case, so picked it up for a look.
The good news? It was made from a 6-Pdr 10-Cwt case.
The bad news? The maker had cut off the top 100mm of the case!

Nevertheless, I still bought it as it was not too expensive, and it now sits on my desk. If it hadn't been cut down, it would have been a simple matter to dis-assemble it, as it is only soft-soldered together.
Roger.
