Trip Wire Spool.

I found this spool of trip-wire which is obviously Commonwealth used, hopefully by Australia.
Black plastic spool of approx 0.4mm diameter wire (could not measure with caliper tips).
Dimensions are 75mm x 18mm . Note the string around the safety split pin to stop unwinding.
Is it part of a mine or trip-flare kit? Who is the maker WAV. Dated 9/54. All info is appreciated.
