Two Israeli No.36 Grenades

Thanks for letting me no for sure Rich. I was curious to know this because of the FACT that once Israel gets its hands on anything that has to do with combat, the first thing they do is "How can we improve this?" It does go right on down to it's Rifle grenades too and the cartridges.

For an example:

A few years back, they needed an important part for their F-15's because they had had it fail on them causing instability in the airplane. The US had the same problems at the same time with that same part. It would take the USAF around 4 months to get it out for all of our own Eagles. Twice as much time for Israeli's to get their hands on the part too.

Israel, said something like "The he!! with this" and designed their own new and improved part. It went from design to on the airplane in less than 3 weeks. Simply amazing. Therefore, that is why I asked.

One last item to ask. Is the TNT that the Israeli's used in their Mills better than what the british filled them with along with India back during WWII? TNT is the standard by which all other explosives are judged by. So I am not sure where all of the "tols" (Amatol, Baratol, etc., etc.) compare to TNT in explosive power and also if TNT increased fragmentation abilities to a new height?

Sorry for the delayed replies - but I have been away a bit.
As for the explosive filler the Israeli Mills contain compressed TNT.

Paul - sorry for the delay but your question caught me a bit with surprise and I had to confer with other friends.
From our expirience - the Israeli base plugs come with no markings at all.
The 44 marking we have seen on British plugs and it seems there may be some kind of combination within the collector world of base plugs and bodies from different origins.
