Once again, I was notified I won this practice bomb. It will take a few weeks to arrive , this is the only picture I have. It was advertised as a "WW2 era practice bomb", no lettering, " 91 inches long", was probably blue at one time. I believe it to be of 60's, 70's era 500 pounder? My internet search led no where as to a positive ID. Can any bomb experts ID it?

Unable to ID, MK 80 something practice bomb?

Notice the single filling plug is fwd of the lugs. That plug location does not match anything I can find. From Internet, the MK 86, 87, 88 series are listed specifically " practice, 250, 500, 1000.." but no,pictures. I need the TM on US Air Force practice bombs....I passed on this local one as it was almost 12 ft long...6-8 ft is more easily handled,easier to haul around, and would go unnoticed by the evil princess ( she never goes into my " den"- heavy, dangerous looking green ordnance scares her)....I told her once do not touch anything, she has not been back for at least 6 months...

Well, I finally received my bomb. It is as described, 91 inches long, has been repainted green, ( blue is visible). The hangars are the standard 14 inches length, and the only clue I have as to date: the hangar suspension lugs are dated 1-13-71. As mentioned, the fill port is forward of the suspension lugs. The only internet reference would be a MK 87, practice bomb, taken from a photo a man took aboard an aircraft carrier showing the same features- blue, 91 inches long, filling port fwd of lugs, and plaque states " MK 87", "500 lb practice bomb"...any 1970's US navy members around to confirm?
....a footnote, for those located in the US. I found a private shipper who shipped it from Western Illinois area to Atlanta area for about $225. The auctioneer said he could not find anyone cheaper than $400. PM me for their contact info, he transports CHEAP anything east of the Missisippi.....
A year ago for Christmas I bought an empty FAB 250 Russian bomb off ebay. It is about 16 inches in diameter, almost 6 ft. long. and probably weights 100 Lb.s +. The seller wrapped it in 3 layers of cardboard and shipped it from California to Idaho, FedEx ground, for $87.00. Very reasonable.
Any pictures? How are you displaying it? Upright? Or horizontal?
I'm not displaying it currently. It has a dent in the side of the nose. I want to grind off the weld around the nose, hammer the dent out, then reweld it. It will then either be on a wheeled cart horizontal or on a rack against the wall.
