Unidentified Mortar

Hi Everyone,

Any help would be greatly appreciated with what I think would be classed as a mortar.

I bought this in the Grenadier Bookshop in Ypres last year and have no idea as to what country this comes from. The shop owner had no idea and could only tell me it would have come from the local area somewhere.

It has no markings at all, its approx 21cm long and has a diameter of 3cm at it widest point.

Has anyone got any idea about this?

Many Thanks

Paul

French Sub-cal mortar, been posted before. I've got one somewhere, but cannot find it right now.

Hi Guys,

Thank you for the info. I've had a search around the web and found a few pictures which seem to suggest its a Losfeld 30mm mortar which was used from 1955 to 1970 and possibly a smoke mortar??

Thank you for the info as this gave me a starting point.

Many Thanks, Paul

The Losfeld mortar was only used for training purpose, it was reusable and use a little smoke charge for marking.
