unknown ammo box

I was told on purchase that this was German Aircraft Ammo box feed, it has 100 links within, no markings can be found anywhere, I have searched on here but cannot find anything about it,can anyone help,thanks

Possibly 7.92 tomsk, a friend of mine suggested Italian ??
