Unknown item,help please!

Does anyone know what this item is please?
Possibly a detonator?
It has a hole at one end with what looks like the remains of black powder around it.

It looks like a gas piston from a firearm.

I agree. Not too dissimilar to an L85 gas piston. Where did you find it?

Yep... looks like an SA-80/L85 gas plug assy.
