I bought an empty casing without knowing what caliber it was. It has been brought back from Korea in 1953 by a canadian soldier who used it as a fence outside his house, so I cannot read anything from under it because of the rust. It is 26 in long (662mm), the rim diameter is 5 1/2 in (137mm) and it seems to be around an 82mm caliber. At first I thought that it was a 20 pounder, but it is longer by an inch and a half, and the rim is half an inch shorter. Somebody suggested that it was a 3in L/70 AA naval shell, but the diameter of this round is 76.2mm. Could it had expanded this much ? Somebody's got an idea?
