Unknown Luftwaffe Parachute?

Can any one help with this Luftwaffe Parachute?

The Canopy is of small size, measuring just 60” diameter ( 152 cm).

It doesn't have the normal central hole, so the drop speed would have been relatively slow.

100% German Luftwaffe with it's "Betriebs Aufsicht" ( BA) Inspection Stamp and below it number 14019.

It carries the German manufacturers factory code ‘ECG’. (C&M Brüggemann KG, Mechanische Werkstätte / Flugzeug-Gerade).

They have manufactured parachute equipment since 1936.

No Fl. number, the stamps are an embroidered number inside that reads, 1365 and a embossed number W246909.

The colours are very bright and this would seem to be for recognition purposes.
Some Butterfly Bombs were painted Yellow with a Red Stripe, as a warning to "friendly troops", could that be a clue?

Was so it could be recovered and re-used? for what though?

I've never seen a Luftwaffe Parachute with these colours.

I'm baffled..

Any ideas?...

I would agree Yoda, but for what supplies?

Surely more would have been seen/documented.

I genuinely believe it is a warning of some sort, given the Colours.

Perhaps we will never know..

I doubt that it is a warning.
It is an identifier known to those on the ground so that they can go for the type of stores that require priority, due to their present situation.
They may need a radio before they need ammunition at that moment, or fuel to operate a particular vehicle.

Have a look on this thread : http://www.bocn.co.uk/vbforum/threads/94179-Leaflet-Bomb

Let us think about the problem !
Eastern front, dropping of supply containers in snow. Parachute without central hole to limit the speed.
Fall in the snow and disappearance of the container, only the yellow-red parachute remains visible on the snow.

This can be a possibility, no ?

To me the parachute seems to be too small for any container ( weight from 50 kilos upwards ). In manual pictures of parachutes for smallest containers, packed, seem to be about 30 cm diameter. Rather for a smaller target marker or...

A parachute made of yellow silk with red stripe in the middle of each segment was used in the naval 8,6 cm wire barrage rocket, described by the OP-1666. It had diameter of 90 cm and 50 cm depth, though.
On the other hand, a pilot parachute with 150 cm diameter, made of linen (colours unknown?), was used in the 15 cm wire barrage rocket.

Some very interesting ideas, hopefully some one will be able to say what it definitely used for..

I would go with Yodas idea of the chute being visible in snow or the sea.

We are slowly getting there... keep them coming :congrats:

it think it's more likely a parachute of a LC50 series (or other) parachute flare.
