Asking the experts...

Does anyone recognize this crate?
A good friend of mine has recently added this to his collection.

The crate was found in the attic of a house in the Netherlands, where the owner reports it has been in the attic since at least WW2.
...it was in the attic ever since he was a boy, so it could be older than WW2

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Brad

Looks more like a crate for vehicle parts than an Ammunition crate. I take it there are no markings burnt into the base?

What Hangarman said. Looks military but not ammunition. The bands on each end of the box seem to indicate that the lid was intended to be removed, replaced and reused again, possible an instrument or piece of equipment that needed to be protected. The colour and markings don't mean anything to me though. WT might indicate Radio equipment. Is there a pic of the insides?

Unfortunately, these are the only photos I have of the box.
From what I've been told, there are no other markings on the crate.

Cheers,
Brad
