Got this with some other items the other day . I assume it's a projectile of some sort ? Measures 0.644" at the widest & 2.90" overall length . It's hollow but the base is crimped over slightly so it may have had a core at some time . Any help much appreciated !

It looks very much like the jacket from a Frankford Arsenal .60 caliber bore-rider experimental from WW II. However, the .644" diameter would preclude it from being that. Does the rear portion appear to be a seperate piece?

Ray . Thanks for that info . The lower part appears to be turned into the whole thing but may be seperate & sweated on . Difficult to tell . The actual diameter of the main part is 0.593" . Mike

The .593" is a nominal dimension for the bore-rider part, but the .644" still is not. Other than to mention the FA 60 caliber experiments, I don't know what else to make of it.

Maybe 15mm BESA ?, some of the .60 cal experimentals used the BESA projectile.
