Unknown WW1 French 7,5cm Round and Shell

I picked this up in Belgium. I followed some of the treads and took a trip to Ypers. Can anyone identify this 7,5cm round. It is one of the few French WW1 rounds I have seen with the tappered bottom below the driving bands.
 
it's a Mle.1917 HE shell (streamlined)

I think it was the french answer to the german C-Shells which were introduced to improve the range...
