Unknown WW1 projectile i.d.help,please.

I found this at work today & it's similar to a French essai I saw at Calais beach a while ago.
It's 10cm by 20 to where the fuze starts & appears to have a brass diaphram on the base.It is light for it's size.
Closest I've found is a civil war Pallister...but this is from near Ypres,possible 1914.I don't think the 1870's battles came near here.
I'll check with dovo tommorrow & then it's gone forever.

It is an early 4" RML trench howitzer / mortar projectile. The gas check should be copper and there is a thin brass adaptor at the nose. The later version had the rifling cast into the shell itself, not studded. These were only used for a very short time as an expedient at the start of the war.
