Unusual Case , any suggestions?

This item has appeared on an auction site.
Measures 75x300 and seems to be made of brass and perhaps has a primer.
Any clues, please?

Hi Charley,

Humm, is it /was it a shell case at all?

There is no base rim or semi-rim - it's rimless

Looks more like a brass tube with a base soldered on - in your 2nd photo, it appears the whole base circumference is "grey" - solder???

Can't quite tell from the photo if it is a proper primer hole or just a "hole" - can you ask for a better base photo?

Could be "trench Art"??

How thick is the wall?
Looks to be too thick for a shell case.
Afraid I`m thinking Granfather Clock weight or Dinner Gong!!

On the first photo there appears to be a seam in the inside wall which would imply that its not a cartridge. Perhaps part of a lamp stand?
