US 6 Pounder manufacturer

DEADLINE222

Well-Known Member
I have had a 6 pounder for a few years and have had tremendous curiosity as to who it's manufacture was. It isn't like any of my other 6 pounders, as it had a fuse adapter in the bottom of it, or it was a base plug that accommodated the fuse. The maker's marks were just visible under this plug, so I did everything in my power to remove the plug to see them. However, after several methods, including a encounter with the plasma cutter; I could not get the plug to unscrew. Today, I cut the plug with a dremel and beat the plug into the projectile and it fell out. Fear not as I plan to weld the plug back together and restore the damage the damaged threads. With that said, the question remains as to the manufacturer. The projectile is 8.250" tall. The threaded base is 1- 19/32" wide and is relatively fine, left-hand thread. It was made in December of 1899. There is a STAR with a B inside it, with a BIG "L" beside that. I want to believe it was made by ***C.M. BRO*** possibly BROOKLYN or the likes. (**** represents possible letters) Thanks in advance. If it was not so late, I would provide an image.
