Hello,

Does someone could tell me if the 76mm HE M42 (picture) was loaded with smoke composition (like HC or WP), painted grey with yellow stencil ?

(I saw a specimen but I'm not sure is not a fake).

Cheers.

76mm M312 WP.jpgThere is a WP projectile M312 or T13E2 of the exact shape as an M42 with fuze PD M57, that was fired from the M26 straight case. They also loaded Navy 3 inch Star shells for the same gun. They were fired from the Super Sherman with 76mm gun.

Thank you Hazord.
Same nomencalture -M42- with smoke loading or another number ?

You probably replied before I posted the photo. I had to fire up my scanner for the documents of the WP and the Illum from your other post. The projo will say M312 in yellow letters on a gray painted projo as shown in the drawing.

MINENAZ16,

Do you have any info about any stampings on the body of the projectile? Do you know if there is a date stamped into it?
