Us m17 .50 cal ammunition chest

Hello all,

Thought I'd post pics of this neat little .50 cal box I picked up at a car boot sale recently for those interested. Cost £5...

A little research shows it to be a carry box for 100 rounds of linked .50 cal introduced around 1942 to replace wooden boxes.

Are these common in the uk, or generally?

I don't think they were in service long, I have not seen many of them around...picked mine off of Craigslist, and was very happy to!
