US WW2 Mk 2 grenade spoon, ink marked " A".

These pics are from another website. My understanding is a black tipped spoon is a modified fuze , usually a M200A1 or M10a2 modified to the M10 A3 fuze. These spoons have been ink marked with the letter " A", and do not have the black painted spoon tip. What did that signify?
