Attached are some photos of an (INERT) US XM 70 - 24 hour Clockwork Firing Device, Manufactured by Frankford Arsenal September 1963. Does anyone have any information in relation to these items?

Thanks and stay safe,

Frank

Very cool indeed. Its stamped inert, did they take the insides out?Or cause it in some way to be nonfunctional?

It appears that it was formally rendered Inert by firing as designed, as the coupling base primer is fired, the internal clockwork mechanism and striker are in the fired position and a few minor parts appear to be missing. It would probably take a Swiss Watchmaker to get it in working order and re-cock it. Attached are a few photos of the back cover removed. I am afraid to take it apart any further, after once learning a bad lesson trying to fix my own watch :tinysmile_cry_t3:.
