The USA M1 Firing device is a pressure release device and is can be employed with many explosive charges including ,grenades,mines,etc
It requires a minimum pressure of 2 lbs,upon pressure release a spring lever strikes a firing pin which sets of a percussion cap ,tis in turn sets off a non electric cap crimped to the base,which then initiates the main charge used.The one i have releases the striker when the plate is lifted only 4mm
The grenade and firing device are in my own collection and are fully inert
