Very interesting story with a sad ending, only 10,000 visitors and $2 million needed for restoration/repairs...

As one of the veterans says, "when she leaves, she will take a lot of history with her".

Another piece of history being lost.
 
That's unfortunate. I was able to visit the Barry in the 80s. Of course, at that time, you could enter the Navy Yard just by telling the gate guard you wanted to go to the museum. Post 9/11 and after the shooting there a few years ago, I can't imagine what you have to do to get in now. No wonder the visitor numbers are down. It's a good museum that used to have quite a bit of artillery outside.
