V2 Rocket Model

Picked this up the other day from another of our members; he thinks it may be an early British model of a V2 rocket; he could very well be right. I think It's made from a zinc alloy (non magnetic) with tin fins. It's 9 3/4" in length, fins are 3 1/4" long, with a max width of 1 7/8". It weighs in at 3lb 14oz (1.7kg).
Any ideas chaps?? Thanks.

It looks to replicate a WW1 vintage aerial bomb, but who knows what the crafter had in mind.

Dosen't appear to resemble a V2 at all.
Slick's right in the general shape, definitley not rocket shaped, except maybe Flash Gordons!
Possibly a Bathytherm type item?,for measuring water temp etc.

Interesting replies, guys! I'll look into the Bathytherm idea. Don't forget that we (the British) in the middle of 1944, didn't really know what a V2 actually looked like, hence the odd appearance, just look at some of the early interpretations of the V1. The hole, which runs through the center, is also reminiscent of directional stability windtunnel models.

I have to say I think it looks more like a representation of a bomb than a rocket, but it is true that you could compare it to very early drawings........take this drawing of German bombs, which must have been early war. However, to make a comparison to a V2 on an early representation, you could equally compare it to one of these drawings.

I would love to say I think its a representation of a V2, but if I did I wouldnt be very honest if I did - sorry.

regards Kev
