Frizzen has asked me to attach some photos of his collection.
I'll do it over several threads so there is room for discussion regarding this fantastic collection of rounds.
I'm hoping he's going to add plenty of comments to these threads.
Dave.
There are some really nice projectiles there that I can see, and a lot of cases. So are all the exposed case heads just empty cases or are there projectiles in them?
Thanks to SG500 for posting this for me. The case bottoms shown are all complete rounds. The top and second row from top are all WWI German 77 rounds, below that are US and French 75's, Various countries 3 inch, Brit 13 and 18 pr's, some Austrian 75 and 8cm rounds, Turkish 75's, Belgian and Italian 75's, all basically in the 75 to 3 inch range, all WWI or a little earlier. The carrying case on the left holds four Russian Shrapnel rounds (the four rounds are inside), to the right is a ready case for 3 Brit 2.95 inch Shrapnel rounds (with the three rounds) All of these rounds are unfired (inert of course) On the bottom of the vault are mostly bag gun projectiles, the earliest from 1876 and then all the way through WWI. Sizes are 6cm to 12cm, hard to see because the Vault is 32 inches deep. I would love to show some of these eventually. Thanks for the interest.......
