To add to this thread, pictures of the items I have. The first is the canister and the flat nosed projectile both in the short case. The second is of the same projectiles but in the longer case with the shorter case for comparison. The third picture is of the two 42mm cases and the 1.65" mountain gun case. The final picture is of the three rounds in the cases they came with.

So, I'm still posing the question. Is the U.S. 1.65 inch gun case the correct one to represent the short one?

The red projectile in the Hotchkiss 2pr, 42mm or 1.65" case is correct. All the others are Nordenfelt and
would not be used in that case.

42x260R65 Nordenfelt QF gun. Unfotunately, all the spanish navy guns sank 1898 in Cuba, Puerto Rico and the Philipines. In those days Vickers Sons and Maxim, before Maxim Nordenfelt, had a big factory in Placencia de las Armas, Guipuzcoa, Spain with sales over all the world. PA was the acronym of the plant. I have the PA marks in 37x93R, 3Pdr. and 47mm Hotchkiss also in 6Pdr. They also use the M&N logo over the projectiles.
