calling all small arms experts! I'm assuming its Arabic of some sort but in truth its all double Dutch to me, just a series of squiggles. Anyone any thoughts? The round is a 7.5 x 54 MAS so that could make it Egyptian.

many thanks

This cartridge was made in 1957. This ammunition was apparently sold off as surplus in the USA. According to an old post on the IAA forum, it reads (clockwise):

The Arabic name for Syria "Suria"

Calibre--7.5 (7.5 MAS)

M.M.D. (indicates made by Defense Industries Establishments, Damascus)

Date of manufacture--57 (1957)
