What is this

My association with ordnance is the ownership of a 1944 Ford Light Anti-Aircraft Tractor and a 1943 Ford Lynx (Dingo clone).
Other than that I have little to offer. Maybe a severely distressed WWII mine detonator (the mine that jumps up at you).
So my question is definitely Ordnance Collectors 101.
I have in my possession two things that I have always thought might be some sort of oiler. Maybe for a rifle.
My question is am I right?
Also, I would like to know if there is any significance, e.g. indication of date, to the markings on the end.
One is marked "EFD" and has a symbol halfway between a L and a V. I would like to think that this is the remains of a broad arrow.
The other is marked with a broad arrow, "SK", a crown, a "B" and "97".

It looks like a .303 brass oiler made by EFD Enfield.
There was a site showing all oiler markings but I cannot find it.
