What Is This?

A friend of mine recently picked up what he thinks is a WW1 aerial bomb.

We have no idea of what type, size or from what country. We really don't know if its WW1 vintage or not. All we do know it that it's heavy as heck!

So... What did he pick up?

A full side view of the bomb in one photo would be very helpful, but based on what you have it looks pretty close to a UK RL (Royal Lab) 100lb Bomb from WWI. There are a number of tail variations, but yours looks pretty close to some that I've seen in France recovery sites.

These are the best photos I can post at this time. I'll post better photos as soon as we can move the bomb to a better location.

What should an empty casing weigh?

Any ideas on value?

Many thanks!
Cheers,
Brad
