I picked up this small tin the other day. It's 2 9/16" (65mm) wide and 2 1/16 " (50mm) deep. Seems to be original paint with 36 painted on one side.

Impressed on top and bottom lids is :

PF 4 / 1942
HP Packings

My guess is a contained to hold detonators for blowing up blinds.

Never seen one before. I Don't think the 36 has any connection to the Mills 36 grenade.
