This area was a range in WW2. Occasionally I have found 20 mm cases but for the most part I think that .50" AP was used, probably fired from aircraft. The photo with the glove for scale seems to have been made by something of a larger calibre.CNV00002.jpgCNV00009.jpgCNV00008.jpgCNV00007.jpgCNV00006.jpgCNV00005.jpgCNV00004.jpgCNV00003.jpgCNV00011.jpgCNV00001.jpgCNV00010.jpg

That particular range was assigned to the USSTAF during WWII, primarily as a practice bombing range.
The run-in arrow and master quadrant shelter stood on the old sea wall some 2000 yards SSE of the surviving targets.

All the best,
PB
