Nice ,i've got one of these as well, still full of aluminuim powder, ... that just gets everywhere!
Any stencilling on your one?
 
Much like a practice bomb , they have a small detonator burster that ruptures the casing, and the filling of powdered aluminium creates a slick on the water surface,to be visible from the air.
