A company I consult to had a couple inert XM 80 smoke launchers. They make the ejection unit and igniter for this unit.
So I sectioned one for display. easy since there were no explosive elements
This launcher is loaded at Pine Bluff Arsenal, AR and replaces the M 226 M-8 HC greande launcher and the M 176 M-34WP/M-8 HC grenade launcher. This new laucher lays oout a OK smoke screen. but I think the M 226 had more smoke, and the m 176 had the better advantage of helping break up an anbush when the WP started going off. No one could see the WP grenades fllyinghteir way becasue the HC smoke had already started to screen the view of the bad guys.
