Zeppelin dart

3 of these feathered darts popped up on ebay recently

The seller withdrew them and they ended up being sold separately.

I was lucky in being able to track one down so am now the proud owner of one.

A few photos show it next to a Ranken dart, a Brock dart and a selection of flechettes....the ruler in the one photo is 12 inches long for scale.

All INERT etc.

My thoughts exactly EOD when I saw them, one has to be careful especially with Flechettes judging by the amount of reproduction items out there.

A combination of:
Looking at photographs of similar items. A zeppelin collection was auctioned a few years back, photos are on the web, there was a similar although not identical item sold.
Where I got it from (the guy is a friend and a collector of zeppelin artefacts)
One of this type/weight is shown in the French book on Flechettes (page 67 or thereabouts)
Its obviously old. The feel/smell of it are right and the materials/glue/binding etc are obviosly old
The auction house confirmation I did not take as right or wrong, over the years I've seen many incorrect listings

I'm happy to assume it is a WW1 dart based on the above, can't prove it through being able to track down stampings etc as there aren't any on the dart.

If anyone has any more Zeppelin darts I'd be interested in seeing photos of them.
