50 Kilo SC Better than i thought!

Hi Chaps,
Im very, very happy with my latest favourite piece in the collection.

Totally safe and empty as you can see down the fuze pocket and you can poke around in the void.
Ive waited a few weeks but im sure you boys will think it was worth the wait?
Is this a 50kilo SC?,as its surprisingly light?
There are some scrapes on it where the bugger landed and there are plenty of stampings.
It came with a ELAZ55,which was bought by the seller seperate from the bomb case.

Check out these excellent stampings in the metal.
Ive talced them up so we can see them better.
The first one on the nose is a 5 followed by a Y or a K??
There is a Y stamped near the tail end as well.

A bit chewy but it tells a story!

Last overall shot of the bomb.

I will be looking for a decent set of locking rings and an eyelet for this project if you boys can help out please?
Also looking for ways to clean up the case without knacking any of those ink stencils on the bottom.
Dont know whether to get some tails made up for it or shall i save up for an original set?
Im really pleased with this one and i hope you boys have enjoyed the photos?:tinysmile_classes_t

cheers and best always

Very nice piece, thanks for sharing your photos. I think a set of fins would really make for a great display.

The best part is that you had your piece cat scanned for safety!

Cat scanned!

Thanks alan.
The fuze well parts all come apart now to prove its indeed empty.

great peace , thanks for sharing.
love to see him.
about the base plate, perhaps a few days in the creeping oil, as far as i know its a normal righthand thread.

Thanks al,
Will that be the transport cap from the `55?

I think a 250 may be a tad too big for my room though!

What a lovely SC, with some digs hear and there just speaks volumes.

You got any restoration plans for her?

I have nay on finished my SD final paint up today, blasted and primed yesterday.

Will have a good lead on Inner and outer locking rings,so watch this space also.

Tail fins are on the way but need pics of them in the flesh before final assemblie, and have started resto on the SC 500 what a lump to move.

Once again congrats on your new member

Thank you squire!
I was hoping you would enjoy the shots of it.
Im open to suggestions on the restorations?
Def a set of fins is in order but as afore mentioned,do i save for originals or `weather` a set of new ones in the garden for a couple of weeks?
How do i clean the case up?,i was thinking of a rub down with oil and thats it?

Appreciate any tips on locking rings.I think the old girl would suit a new carry eyelet?
Any ideas on those stencils on the bottom side?
btw
Good luck on that 500 you have!
cheers and best

Fins !

Hi Waff what a beaut !

It would really look the business with a set of fins-how about getting a dummy set made until you get your hands on the "real deal" and then you can sell on your dummy fins ?

What is the correct fuze for the bomb ? or is that the one that is fitted ?
As for removing the base plate, just as the others have said= "oil" usually does the trick if left for long enough.
Then gently tap with a plastic hammer as this will compress the "crud" in the thread and should release it.

Very nice item with a bit of history I shouldn't wonder !
