B166 Ammunition box

The B166 held 6 x 3" mortar rounds. There should be a short divider at either end of the box which separated 2 triple cardboard tube carriers. The hasp is a later addition.

The 2 pr ammunition box looks very nice. Where did you find them?
Cheers, Hangarman.

Thanks for answering, hangarman! I got this boxes from Estonia close to Russian border. I made a little face-lifting of this metal boxes and now they looks mach better. :tinysmile_classes_t

Endel, are there any impressed letters and numbers in the lids? They identfy what they are. You can see B.166 in the third pic of the first series.

C207

The C207 was used as the packing the SOE Tree Spigot Equipment. Contained the spigot gun, a sight, a few bombs and fuzes, timepencils and a rucksack. In your excitement to get the box you didn't junk this contents did you?

SOE Tree Spigot

The Tree Spigot was a derivation of work done by Blacker (Bombard) and MD1 (Winston Churchill's Toyshop) by the SOE's technical folk. It was basically a small spigot mortar that could be screwed into a tree and set up to fire at a fixed target using a time delay pencil or used as an 'off route' device by means of a trip wire. The bombs were of the HESH variety.

New ones came from the antic fair.

1. German wooden box (camo) for the extra loads.
2. Container of metal for the 4,5 cm Russian AT shells. Quite rare!
3. Crate for a Russian mine OZM-152. Very nice find for me!

4. Wooden box which originally used for the 7,5 cm le.I.G 18 HE shells, at a later time reused for HL shells. It`s not usual case about these type of box. First time i saw it.
5. Wooden box for the German 8 cm mortar shells, supporting racks are on the place and nice paper under the lid. I have this box already but the good price was decisive.
6. And a metal box of good condition, also for 8 cm mortar shells. All supports are inside and functional.

Hello Endel,
nice crates you found on the antic fair....
Do you have more informations on the metal container for the 45mm AT gun? Better pictures of the markings?

Hi,
I do not have much information on it. This type airtight container is for the marines or coastal defence i guess. Container from the local island. Some more pictures are following.

I have sorted some pictures of my collection of ammo crates and i share some of these here. All showed crates are different, that is mean crates could be the same type but filled ammo type or outside color is not the same. So, double ones is not here yet, but some incorrect numbers in a signature are.

Still seams, long way to go.

Regards
E

Endel this must be one of the top WW2 German ammo box collections there is in a private collection.

It is really excellent to see and I never knew you had so much. How do you display the collection?

Thank you for the pictures.
