Should BOCN allow personal avatars to feature topless nudity?

Wish I saw the Bug first !

We always seem to get in a knot over things of a non Ordnance nature, lets remember why we are here. Some fun along the way is always fine too. I'm cool with however this goes. As too Hazord's Avatar, I sent it to my Ex and told her it reminded me of her -- (20 years ago~~~~~:tinysmile_twink_t2:)
 
With the avatar block option this is a no brainer.
I had no problem with blondie anyways. We are manly men persuing a manly hobby in a manly way.

I would think to ban nudity would be a grave mistake and should be allowed as long as it is in good taste and not pornography or anything along that line. The human body can be a beautiful thing if presented in the right context. I think some of HAZORDS avatars are a great example. There is nothing offensive, nothing too graphic and works of art in their own rite (not picking on you John, just an example), also Bazooka Chris has a nudity avatar that is quite tasteful and I really like. As Bolo said it is pretty obvious when the line is crossed and so long as everyone knows there is a limit it should be okay. Not one avatar that I have seen on BOCN has offended me in any way. I use ordnance on my avatar because that is what I choose to use, but would like to think that if I used tasteful nudity that I would not be censored unless the imaginary line is crossed and I think we are all intellegent enough to know just about the boundries would be and tasteful enough not to "cross the line". I did not mean to pick on and/or offend HAZORD or Bazooka Chris and I fint that their avatars are in total good taste..That is my 2 cents or pence worth for whatever value it may or may not have. erotic avatar

I like the erotic type avatars, I find them slightly clever and amusing HOWEVER I think it prudent not to have them on the basis it can cause embarresment or offend some people, we dont want some female do gooder making some sort of official complaint do we 'cos who knows where that could lead. My vote is sadly for no nudes. 2pr

Really a good point 2pounder. I am not sure if there are any female BOCN members, but I personally know a few females that collect militaria. I guess nudity could be offensive to a female, but I have to vote for non censorship and freedom of expression every time...Dano
 
Hi everybody

Guess i had better have my say on this subject then as it was obveously my avatar that seemed to have caused all this.

Some of you are saying its ok to have nose art and computer generated topless pics, how can that be any different to my avatar as it was related to the hobby as the 2 topless ladys were holding bazookas, which is obveously related to my screen name as after all topless is topless be it real or a drawing.
so its not like i just had a picture of just a lady on her own in a pervy pose with her funbags hanging out.

It was a very tasteful i thought even my girlfriend karen liked my avatar, and on variouse occasions it has been said on this forum and also by members i have met at shows that its the best avatar on here and its been on for over 2 years now so if its really been such a problem how come nobodys mentioned it before ?

But obveously i am one for following forum rules to the letter so when asked to remove it i did it straight away with out moaning so hopefully this pole that bolo is doing will sort this problem out and i can have it back as kermit is just temporary but also now a second option has come to light with the avatar blocking thingy, so if you dont want to see it just block it ? . :)

Female viewpoint

Boobs get my vote, PM and ask Moragthehag, she's female and will give you her view no doubt!!!! ;-)
 
Actually, I find armed frogs to be disturbing, the avitar blocker really makes this a non issue, we just need to make sure that everyone knows how to use it, then Chris can post a topless photo of Miss Piggy:)

For what they're worth, here are my 2 cents

  1. We all collect and post pictures of (inert) ordnance whose original purpose was to kill. There are members of this forum that are active EOD and potentially put their lives at risk to disarm ordnance...for me, boobs seem to pale into insignificance.
  2. (I assume) We're not talking macro photos of "giblets" here, we're talking boobs, way less than you can see on any TV channel or tame magazine these days. I would assume Admins would remove clearly explicit material
  3. All of us are able to disable avatars, as already pointed out.
  4. I would guess 98% of the members/viewers of this forum are males and of the 2% that are female, I would imagine if asked they'd not particularly care, as they know damn well what boys are like, and the pictures are hardly offensive.
  5. I personally am fed up to the back teeth of freedom of speech, and personal responsibility being increasingly eradicated from society. We seem to be more and more minority group lead and have become soft. (I'm talking Great Britain here)
  6. Having just bought a pair for my girlfriend, I'm hardly against it :tinysmile_tongue_t:

Look guys, we're all brothers here. If there might be a problem please just use the avatar blocker and let's just put the boobs, or, er, bring, um, take the boobs to bed.

Non of this would have been an issue if someone had just told me about the avatar blocker at my first post regarding naked boobies as this will solve my little problem straight away and then no one would have needed to get on there high horse about it.

Forget it Dano, you can buy some great grenades for the cost of a couple of bigger boobs,and besides, anything bigger than a handfull is a waste.

Yes BOOBS for me to. I can't see what the bickering is about. When you really stand back and think about it, it depends on what culture you are from. There are a good many places in the world where bare breasts are quite normal in everyday life. The human body can also be quite an art form to be admired in it's own right along with the Rembrandts etc.

If you dont like it! Just block it! Thats democracy at work, but dont take away our freedoms as even within the boundaries of contemporary European derived cultures its within the bounds of acceptability.

We are all mature adults I think, so lets stop trying to act like little children trying to find something to moan about. Lets go forth happily and cheerfully with laughter in the air and knuckle down to why we are here for - a common interest in all things ordnance.
