you need i think M3 X 10 countersunk screws but you will have to make the heads smaller by filing down otherwise the arming vanes fail to ride up the cable

Oh dear we used to have neighbours like that we moved .
Ok about the cycamores i met a guy from germany some years ago who was the one that uncovered crates of these wings , these i think are the ones we all have in our collection ,the original other type of butterfly wing

Hi Paul
After removing the surface rust with a wire brush pop down to your local Dulux paintshop that mixes paints for you .
You want RAL6006 their code i think is 84YY07045 finish i would use Matt that is the nearest lluftwaffe grey/green you can get
Steve

I missed this one as we must have posted at the same time.
Thats a great suggestion,cheers Steve.B)

Sprayed pink and connected with wire with a sprinkling of nitrocellulose glitter and waffen art work made lovingly into a windchime THE ultimate trenchart .

Hi Paul
I helped a friend restore a sea mine ,as it was a restoration project going to a museum everything had to be right , he got a paint sample from the mine shell and took it to a paint specialist who alhough couldnt supply the same paint as it contained a lot of lead it was matched perfectly with Dulux paint

cheers Steve for the paint heads up.Have you any suggestions on fuze holdng clips for the bodies? I was thinking of some sort of circlip?

I have found out a lot since my last question on these type 41 Bayonet type fuzes.
At first glance they looked like a circlip was needed to hold in the fuze but now i see that the fuze `twisted` in.
I will post a pic later in the week.

Nice markings on one of the gaines...

Hi Waff me old mucker
Looks like you have have been having a clear out
Top wings arnt to hard to do depending what tools you have for the job
light wire wheel attachment eg dremmel and 120 emery for light polishing.
Bomb charge you can polish with heavy wire wheel and small thread file
to liven up the screw threads.
carefull wire wheel on the arming wire then a coat of clear laquer.

If you get stuck give us a shout and we will sort something out.
Got any good leads on an SD2 charge that takes the spring clip 41a
fuse.

Best phil

butties

firstly,i wouldnt alter any surfaces with original paint.
Imagine if this had been hanging in a tree for two weeks,i'm sure it wouldnt look new.

I would use a chemical rust remover, not rust treatment, instead of harsh wire brush.
Or concider electrolite rust removal.

I wouldnt use any other filler except metal filler,as its relatively easy to sand and looks like metal,in its unpainted state.
I would use all the best bits to make a good butty, and salvage all other parts to make a real good resoration!
mmm thats me anyway..

Hi Phil,

Thanks for the tips, good to hear from you again.

I may have a spare body for you but its had a fair knock on one side?
it was going to a dealer down south but ive not seen him at shows for ages so drop me a line and we can sort a deal?:tinysmile_grin_t:
That gaine ive pictured, ive never seen one before with such markings?.I think i was a lucky lad that day!
