A fictitious movie describing an all female Soviet military fighter squadron during 1942-1944 period https://www.imdb.com/title/tt26505281/. It is 2.5 hours long. Despite a very strong opening scene, and subsequent great dog fight confrontations with Luftwaffe, it later deals with family matters and feelings and things girls do (makeup, love interests etc), thus diluting the subject matter. The film starts in Leningrad (Lake Ladoga), goes to Stalingrad, then south to the Ukranian Front, and back to Leningrad. I'd recommend it to viewers who really like IIWW planes. You do get to see ground battles in Stalingrad though. The writer/director's entire family was in the midst of IIWW, and obviously he felt like addressing other matters like God and being remembered after death.
