1 inch brass flare cartridge identification

hi, can anyone identify the 1 inch flare cartridges shown in the attached photo? They are a little over 3 inches tall and have an E within a C stamped in the base. What, who, When?

That is a 26.5mm, no 1-inch.

Made in Germany, will have to ask a friend who made it. Will come back if I find out.

many thanks EOD, that was quick. What sort of date would it be from, it came with some WW2 badges/medals/WW1 2pdr AA round and a cloth badge from the Lahore Aircraft Depot, India.

I am less involved as the data is from Horst Tielbrger who is working on a book on European pyrotechnical cartridges in 1-inch and 26.5mm.
With a bit of luck it will be out by spring 2015 (1 year).
