To make it more complicated: there were 4 hollow charge projectiles in that size.
-15 cm Jgr. 39 Hl for the 15 cm s.JG. 33 (width of the driving band 11.3 mm);
-15 cm Gr. 39 Hl for the 15 cm s.FH. 18 (width of the driving band 22 mm);
-15,2 cm Gr. 39 Hl for captured 15,2 cm Russian guns (width of the driving band 24,5 mm);
-15,5 cm Gr. 39 Hl for captured 15,5 cm French guns (width of the driving band 23 mm).
Pictured below the 15 cm Jgr. 39 Hl/A next to the 15 cm Gr. 39 Hl/A, the difference in driving bands is obvious.
The 15,2 cm Gr. 39 Hl had a FEW drivingband (FEW = soft iron) of which the grooves were filled with lead. The 15,5 cm Gr. 39 can be found with FES or FEW drivingbands. Identification of these shells is more difficult, but yet possible by comparing measurements.
