Hallo, I am looking for the information on the 15cm Kanonengranate 42.
The only german war time information I was able to find is in the Geschossringbuch D 460/2+.

Is there any other injformation on use, fuzing and filler substances?

Thanks, Bob

I found this copy of a page from the US Recognition Handbook for German Ammunition (April, 1945).
It partly shows the package label for the 15 cm K.Gr.42.

AZ 1 weiβ gespritzt -p.d.fuze AZ 1, most remarkebly this fuze was sprayed white
R 9 (Rauchentwickler9) - smokebox nr. 9
13 A -bursting charge nr. 13 A = amatol 50/50
II -Weight classification nr. II
Tpn 28. 3. 44 G -loaded March, 28, 1944 at the ammunition plant Tpchin

This shell was also found fuzed with the Dopp. Z.S/90.

Hallo, thank You for the info,
I was about to "bump up" this thread with the following data:
one is US inteligence report, the other soviet.
It is without question that the round existed, but I have a hard time finding wartime German documentation on this projectile.

Regards, Bob

Hi Bob,
In ussr 196 manual about 15cm. K.Gr.42- written the next:
-charge - casting TNT without box and red phosphorus block #9 for smoke. Total weight of charge- 5,580 kg
Used next zunders - Az.23 V 0,25 , Az.23 V 0,15, Dopp. Z. S/90
All like in 15cm. K.Gr.18
Difference in the leading belt material only - it metal-ceramics on 15cm. K.Gr.42
