15th Canadian CEF Btn. Pair of decorated casings

I just obtained these, while not a primary collection subject for me these were just too good to pass up.
For once a bit more Art than not, rather "arts & Crafts" in feel. I am quite sure these were made in early 1917
to a special order. As there are no actions mentioned for 1917 and the casings predate 1916 and are German as allied casing were being recycled.
The high level of bronzed finish and hand work indicate a better than average workmanship and artistry.

Another pair;
These two are made from 1917 German cases which are a harder alloy, 67% copper
versus 72%. So the working is more restrained. The bottoms of both cases were cut off
the body worked and the bottoms then pushed back in. This reults in a shorter finished work
than before for the same casing type 7.7 96Na. One is VIMY 1917, the other AMIENS 1918.
They must have been made between December 1918 and being sent on to England and home
and before allied cases became available for this work.
