Recent acquisition.
Is this a novelty item?
It reads " Winchester
Shotshell
Tour
1984 "
Headstamp looks standard to my untrained eye.
I enquire because the words " harpoon gun " were asked ....

Can anyone shed light on this ?
I realise that it is not military
Thanks very much

I am vague on the answer but I thought it was for a USA shotshell show commemorative I saw in Gun Report or somewhere years ago. I await answers too.

Certain factories used to give them out to commemorate visits by special guests. I've seen 8-10 and have a different one then the one shown, there are probably dozens more.

This is from 1985

They used to do novelty/souvenir shells for special tours. I have one in my collection, but have seen 5-6 others with the text specific for the tour group.

I have seen a couple that were really old, made to look like a long shot shell, by the company that made the cartridges, and given out as cigar holders. That was a long time ago, somewhere in Kentucky, I think.
