Wallaroo & Moonta mining and smelting Co Ltd. Yorke Peninsula, South Australia! Mine is dated 8/5/16.
Sent you a pic of it about this time last year.
Is this the one Wardy had @ the AGM?
Regards Ozzi.
Wow! So it is. Thanks. I automatically assumed it was British. Yours was inscribed with the full company name like a presentation piece.
Yep I wore Mick down, but it cost an arm AND a leg!
I will have to do more research on this, as before you showed me your shell last year I thought that we didn't commence manufacture of 18 pdrs (projectiles or cartridge cases) until 1927 at Maribyrnong ("MC" - Munitions at CAC, not Finsbury). Do you know who filled the shells and if complete rounds, including fuzes were made during WW1? Also if there were any other Australian manufacturers during WW1?
The only other one (a couple actually) I have seen that I recognise as possible Australian was one marked VR which I presume is Victorian Railways.
No I don't know what production Australia had in respect to fuzing.
Maybe we only made components which were filled elsewhere, maybe overseas.
Regards Ozzi.
