No remaining label so no idea about original contents. Likely 303 ammunition of some sort. Only mark is AD 1942. Varnished tin liner, 16" x 8 1/2" x 11"

not much help to you for info on your box, but these boxes must have been in use during WW1 as well.
I have one of those brass T pieces that I picked up from a WWI battlefield in Belgium and never knew what it was until I saw the one on your WW2 box.
Looks like an H1. They were used for all sorts of Ammo including .303,.455 and 1" very carts. Not seen one as late as '42. Nice find. All the best boxes seem to turn up in Canada!!
