The explanation for the nose caps in the Diary link is amusing.

A slight problem with the explanation in the Diary link is that the item bears the monogram of 'MLN' - Metalclad Limited, Gasworks Road, Neath, Glamorgan, which is nowhere near Chipping Norton. Lainchburys did manufacture shells, but what exactly they made is not listed. Their monogram was 'L.'
