2" mortar smoke?

Well-Known Member
Hi all
Bought this at the weekend.
It's dated 1943 and it appears to be a 2" smoke mortar but the section between the tail and the body seems to be longer than any of the pictures or drawings i can find of smoke rounds... Is it correct?
Does anyone out there have a good photo or drawing of the cap?
Especially of the lifting tab.

Many thanks
T42

Hi turpin42,

It's a 2'' Signal mortar.
Here are some drawings.

2" Mor Smk

Hi Turpin the smoke mortar has a closed body and the end cap has 3 studs on the front for night identification-as you see the bodies are quite different-although the fin set is the same.

Hello T42,
I have a 2" mortar, parachute, illumination. The body cap is a tin stamping. I know the smoke version is different but thought you may be interested to see it?
Cheers,
navyman.
