can anyone explain the headstamp, what is the difference with the MK 3 gun ? thanks

Hello Mick,

There was a thread here on this some years back, with a lot of suggestions, but no real certainty. The Mk.III gun was a gun for submarines, and according to the handbook seemed to take the ordinary 2-pdr AA gun ammo. Could be for some sort of trials with the gun , but if so, there does not seem to be any record thereof that anyone has found.

Two more headstamps from my files.
There seem to be cases from SH&S, GC, and VSM that have this stamping on, so there must have been quite a few made.

The original post was by Falcon,on 7th Aug 2011, in the "cartridges" threads.
