2 PR HV SAP projectile question.

I've got this 40x157 SAP projectile and I can't find any information on it. Projectile is 149mm in length and has a large treaded area to the base 39.7m deep. Projectile marked S.A.P. HV I/(unclear) BTHCoN 5/45.

Do you think the treaded area was for a plug similar too (but deeper than) an 'S' gun or a base fuze making a SAP HE?

An ideas appreciated

BTH Co N - BTH Co was British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd. They had sites all over the UK. The "N" might indicate the particular site. They had sites at Norwich and Nottingham.

Hi Q hope your well. Im pretty sure its for use with the Rolls Royce BH cannon fitted to British naval gunboats. It would be SAPHE so would have been base fuzed. Pm me your email and I will send something. Cheers Tig.
