Hello,

I can't remember when and where I found this picture. I like this photo displayed on my office wall.
So maybe someone know it.
I realized that I know nothing about these soldiers "William Aunges and Harold Molyreux"
This evening I tried to search on CWGC website to found them. Nothing.
I assume German soldiers wrote names with errors.
I tried with "Molyneux" instead of "Molyreux" and I found entries.
For "Aunges" I don't know what could be the real name.
Is it a common surname ?
I tried with "Angus" but not sure (some entries).
Are they MIA ?
I don't know if the CWGC mentions MIA soldiers.
I'll be very grateful if someone could help me.

Regards

A quick look at the database "Soldiers Died in the Great War" gives two possibilities for Harold Molyneux, and then cross referencing with the CWGC gives cemetery locations:

Private Harold Molyneux of the Queen's (Royal West Surrey) Regiment, Service no. G/23062. Died 18 August 1917.

Grave II.E.12. Bertenacre Military Cemetery, Fletre.

Private Harold Molyneux of the East Yorkshire Regiment, Service no. 41658. Died 10 April 1918, aged 18.

Grave II.R.17. Trois Arbres Cemetery, Steenwerck.

Second name is a bit trickier, but it looks like it could be William A Angus, for which there are two possibilities, one also from the East Yorks. (It would be perhaps more likely to have two men from the same unit buried together, but if so they died several months apart.)

Private William Alexander Angus, East Yorkshire Regiment, Service no. 205112. Died 22 September 1918, aged 20.

Grave 1730, Rethel French National Cemetery.

Then there is the other chap from the Seaforths, who died only a few weeks after Molyneux 41658:

Private William Alexander Angus, Seaforth Highlanders, Service no. S/24975. Died 25 May 1918, aged 18.

Grave IV.K.34. Aubigny Communal Cemetery Extension.

One of my Great Uncles has no known grave and is listed on the CWGC website. Such war deaths are normally recorded on a CWGC memorial, such as at Thiepval, the Menin Gate and the Jerusalem Memorial etc.
