20mm 1942

I have found at different times these 3 items. I think they are Hispano shells. The complete one is marked 1943.
I found the projectile and the other cartridge separately so am not sure they go together. The cartridge is marked 1942 and has 2 notches in the rim. Can anyone tell me if I am correct in identifying them and are the notches supposed to be there? Thanks

Yes it is a20mm Hispano Ball round so no explosives.
I have not seen any notches so doubt if they are original unless the case was jammed and somehow the extractors tore the rim away?

The notches are the ejector marks, which are seen on all fired Hispano 20mm cases, but are not normally this extreme - the ejector studs have gone right through to the extractor groove, rather than merely denting the head (see image below). As ron3350 suggests, there may well have been some sort of jam and the case was damaged beyond what would normally be observed. If you look inside the extractor groove (approximately where '1' in '1941' is located), you should see the indent from the extractor, likely also in an extreme form.

That case is American by Bridgeport Brass Company , Connecticut.
Barking Brass Co had no case making facility and supplied only brass for use according to other postings on forums.
I realise you only used that reference to show the usual ejector dints.
Most BBC cases have nickel primers like USA ones but some have brass primers so possibly loaded in UK ? Always a much discussed headstamp.
